Our annual Spring Tea is held every May on the first weekend of the month. We seat nearly 40 ladies at two seatings on Friday and two seatings on Saturday. The ladies enjoy savory sandwiches, delicate desserts, fruit, and lots of tea! We have hosted the Tea for over 25 years! And it is a favorite among grandmothers, moms, and daughters. Tables are beautifully decorated by ladies of Augusta around a central theme, with each table being distinctively different.
Every October, usually the Saturday before Halloween, our Museum hosts a walking tour in Elmwood Cemetery, where early Augustans and their histories are featured. Some past Augustans featured have been oil men, mayors, doctors, a long-time librarian and many more.
In mid-October the Museum hosts a fun shoot at Murphy & Son’s Gun Range for clay shooters of the area. Teams of 4 vie for first place! Lunch is served at the end of the morning competition.
The Historical Museum’s annual Chili Supper and Pie Auction has been held at the Senior Center on the Thursday before Thanksgiving for many, many years. It is our oldest fundraiser. Board members make ‘vats’ of chili, dozens of cinnamon rolls, to feed hungry Augustans! Bakers of Augusta prepare pies of all kinds which are auctioned off by Mark Sudduth to the highest bidder. Many of the favorites go for over $100 a pie! It is an event you must not miss!
